We went behind early in the game when a big kick from their keeper was not dealt with by our defence and their forward stole in to steer the ball past Dan Bury. With 10 minutes played Scott Harris knocked a great ball to Chris Burton in the area but he shot wide. With 25 minutes gone, we failed to clear the ball and a cross into the box was headed home. Within 2 minutes we pulled a goal back when Damian Chamberlain headed home a Craig Bradshaw free kick at the back post. With 5 minutes to play in the first half we had a corner which fell to John Emmett and his shot was fired across goal but nobody could get a touch to the ball. Ten minutes into the second half, their keeper made a flying save from a Craig Bradshaw free kick. We created chances in the second half and we were rewarded with 10 minutes to go when Chris Rushton broke clear and crossed for Olly Clare to fire home the equaliser. With just minutes remaining, Chris Rushton won a header in the box and the ball fell to Olly Clare but he hooked it over the crossbar. In the first period of extra time Tom Sipocz had a great run from his own half, broke through three challenges and lifted the ball over their keeper but it just fell the wrong side of the post. With penalties looming they broke away following a mistake from Chris Rushton and their forward finished well. We were very poor and probably didn’t deserve anything from the game, so much for a cup run!
